Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall

It's no surprise. This is THE producing team of the last twenty years. Their credits are astronomical, almost to the point of frightening. Oh, and they're married.

In 1996, the duo broke off from Universal and created their own production company called (trumpets, please) Kennedy/Marshall. A LOT of effort went into that name.

Kennedy's first producing job was on E.T. the Extra Terrestrial. She worked side by side with Melissa Mathison (who also wrote the script) and Steven Spielberg on this film... and became the producer for the majority of all of Spielberg's other films.

Kennedy's first taste of producing started when she worked as an assistant to John Milius, who was executive producer of Spielberg's film 1941.

Any of her films that come off as cheesy, goody-goody, pony-tail pictures are with good reason. She produces two ways. One, with blockbusters. Two, for a specific audience... children.

Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy worked on Poltergeist together, their first movie, being co-producers for Tobe Hooper. Poltergeist was also a pet project of Spielberg's. You see the connection here?

It was a tight knit circle. Zemeckis, Spielberg, Lucas, Kennedy, Marshall... they all worked together, seamlessly.

Kennedy and Marshall have worked on the same movies since that fateful film Poltergeist... a huge collection of the biggest money-makers of all time. Hold on to your hats, you won't believe this list:

The Young Black Stallion (2002)
Signs (2002)
The Sports Pages (2001)
A Map of the World (1999)
Snow Falling on Cedars (1999)
Sixth Sense, The (1999)
Olympic Glory (1999)
The Indian in the Cupboard (1995)
Congo (1995)
Milk Money (1994)
Trail Mix-Up (1993)
We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story (1993)
A Far Off Place (1993)
Tiny Toon Adventures: How I Spent My Vacation (1992)

Fandango (1985)
Gremlins (1984)
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)
Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983)
Poltergeist (1982)

Kennedy flew these films solo, over the years, producing the Best Picture in 1993 for Schindler's List, along with producing two of the years biggest earners, including Jurassic Park, which took in over 350 million. She produced the following, without Marshall:

Jurassic Park 3 (2001)
A.I. Artifial Intelligence (2001)
The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)
Twister (1996)
Balto (1995)
The Bridges of Madison County (1995)
The Flintstones (1994)
Schindler's List (1993)
Dangerous Woman, A (1993)
Jurassic Park (1993)
Alive (1993)
Reform School Girls (1986)

It seems that Marshall got the boot with Spielberg somewhere along the line, after Hook, which was a terrible film. But the team still produced other great films that were not Spielberg, including The Sixth Sense which was the second highest grossing film of 1999. Here are some other films, sans Kennedy:

The Bourne Identity (2001)
"Johnny Bago" (1993)
The Secrets of the Back to the Future Trilogy (1990)
Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade (1989)
The Making of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)
The Making of Poltergeist (1982)
The Warriors (1979)
The Last Waltz (1978)
Nickelodeon (1976)
At Long Last Love (1975)
Daisy Miller (1974)

They have had the midas touch for a very long time. In Hollywood, they are the most successful producing team, ever. They've gotten incredible projects to work on, worked with the best directors in the business, and they are constant in their goal to entertain. Hopefully they will continue this tradition for a long time.
